๐Ÿšจ Problem Statement

At Daffodil International University (DIU), a significant networking and communication gap exists among students from different departments. Many talented students remain unaware of others with complementary skills, leading to missed opportunities for collaboration, team formation, and innovation.

For example, during the NASA Space Apps Challenge, Team EcoRangers struggled for days to find a backend developer โ€” even though several capable students existed within the same university. The issue wasnโ€™t a lack of talent, but a lack of connection.

This disconnect leads to –ย

  • Students feeling isolated or demotivated.
  • Talents going unrecognized and underutilized.
  • Fewer cross-disciplinary teams forming for research, competitions, or startups.

๐ŸŒŸ Our Solution โ€“ DIU-Link

DIU-Link is a proposed mobile application aimed at creating a centralized talent and collaboration hub for DIU students. It connects individuals across departments based on skill sets, interests, and availability โ€” enabling smarter, faster, and more productive collaboration.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Core Features

  • Student Registration โ€“ Users sign up with their skills, department, and interests.
  • Skill-Specific Dashboards โ€“ Personalized dashboards based on user expertise.
  • Team Formation โ€“ Create and join teams for projects, events, or hackathons.
  • Messaging & Calling โ€“ Communicate directly with other students.
  • Advanced Search Filters โ€“ Filter users by skill, department, or availability.
  • Cross-Skill Exploration โ€“ Discover and join teams outside your field.
  • Top Projects of the Week โ€“ Promote the best student works and boost visibility.
  • Portfolio Building โ€“ Students can showcase their personal and academic projects.
  • Faculty Access โ€“ Faculty can search for skilled students for research, mentoring, or internships.
  • Admin Dashboard โ€“ Admins can moderate users, reset data, and manage system health.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Target Audience

  • DIU Students (All Departments) โ€“ Who want to collaborate, build teams, or find partners for projects, events, and competitions.
  • Skilled Individuals โ€“ With specializations in design, coding, business, marketing, etc., looking to showcase and leverage their skills.
  • Faculty Members โ€“ Seeking research collaborators, class project partners, or interns.
  • University Administrators โ€“ For student engagement tracking, system moderation, and institutional networking goals.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Tools & Technologies

  • Prototype Tool: Figma

  • Planned Tech Stack –ย

    • Frontend: React Native

    • Backend: Firebase (Auth, Realtime Database) or Node.js

    • Platform: Expo for rapid mobile deployment

๐Ÿ’ก How It Works

  1. Register & Join Dashboards
Students register by selecting their skills, interests, and department.

  2. Discover & Collaborate

๐Ÿ“ˆ Feasibility & Impact

  • Technical Feasibility: High. Existing tools like Flutter, React Native, and Firebase make development accessible and scalable.
  • Operational Feasibility: Designed specifically for DIU, it leverages the current student ecosystem.
  • Economic Feasibility: Low-cost development with open-source tools; potential funding via university or sponsors.
  • Social Impact: Builds motivation, bridges gaps, and promotes a culture of teamwork and innovation across all departments.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Future Plans
